Vacuumed my pool yesterday. I need to break down and buy an actual pool vacuum one of these days, but I hate to spend money on something like that, so I continue to use my homemade contraption. If I ever did a cost/benefit analysis on my pool, I would flip. However, hearing about my pool always made my mother very happy - and I do like it. Since I do like it, AND it makes me think happy thoughts about my mom, I will keep it. That was always her first question in summertime phone calls "Is today a pool day? will you get in the pool today?"
So yesterday I took in my furnace motor to the repair shop. The guy asked me, "why are you worried about your furnace now? it is really nice out." It **was** a beautiful day yesterday, I must admit.
As I told him, "It is nice now, but in six more weeks it will be winter here." My furnace motor had a problem last winter that I do not wish to replicate this winter, so I need it fixed BEFORE winter arrives. Much like the theory you really need to get your lawnmower serviced in November or February, not wait until May when you need it to be working correctly! We went to a dance in Bismarck last night. It was a wonderful dance. We did try our hand (or our foot?) at one of the plus dance tips. We were actually intending to sit that tip out, as we are not actually "plus" dancers, but they really needed us to fill a square. We made more than our share of mistakes, as we do not dance plus often enough to really know what we are doing. We did take that “plus” workshop once, but that was a long time ago – I am not sure if it was March of 2013 or it might have even been in 2012, and we have not really used it since then. However, it was really fun anyway! They do not normally dance in the summer in Bismarck, and they normally hold all of their dances on Saturday, not on Monday, but this was a special dance with a "national caller" that is travelling through the state. He stops in Bismarck every year on the first Monday in August to call this dance. As this is when we are normally in Albuquerque, we had never heard him call before. I did not ever quite figure out what makes him designated as a “national caller,” as we HAVE had callers from other states before. We even had one from Canada once! Maybe it is some sort of certification program, like those “ASE” mechanic tests that my brother has to take to prove he knows how to do specific things? No telling, but he **was** really good! |
