The biggest challenge in my house is and always has been plumbing issues. To correct the problem, we had the brilliant idea to buy one of those air-assisted guaranteed-to-flush-even-cinderblocks-in-one-flush toilets.
Not really.
Aside from the fact that the air bladder gives up the ghost and has to be replaced on an annual (or less) basis, when it does plug, it is nearly impossible to unstopper. The plunger does not seem to help at all, no matter how much force or time is used.
The hot water flush trick does not help. I had to use that trick on the other toilet this morning, in fact, as for an hour or so I was sitting here with two plugged potties in my house. Lacking a third option, I was working alternately on both. The hot water trick - which I suspect would also work with cold water, involves dumping in a bucket of water to force a gravity flush. This works well on a standard toilet, but on this fancy-schmancy-'spensive one...not so much.
I am not thinking the "air assist" toilet is the greatest thing after all...
Not a product purchase **I** will recommend to others.
